You may have heard the name Simone Biles in recent weeks, even if you’re not into the Olympics.
Biles is one of the greatest, most decorated gymnasts of all time and was expected to take home at least three more in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
But her medal achievements are not what have got her headlines. Instead she withdrew herself from competition, and by doing so stood up for her well-being in a sports world that commodifies athletes and values winning at all costs.
Now I’m grateful to have spent over 16 years of my previous career working within these Olympic environments, so I have a unique insight into this topic.
And one of my main messages to you all on this channel is that we can embody the very ordinary qualities that lead to an extraordinary human life and expression.
Yet the example of Simone Biles story goes deeper than sport and its repercussions affect you and I more profoundly than you may realise.
And this is what I want to discuss in todays video.
Learn all about one of the most challenging stages of personal mastery known as “the void”, what it is, the top signs you’re in the void, and what to do when you’re there.
At some point in your transformational process you come to a place that can only be called “the Void”.
If you’re a person who’s always growing you can expect this to happen many times throughout your life.
If you feel like your life is on complete pause, like nothing is moving or materialising for you, you maybe trying to get away from it by pushing and forcing movement to happen.
Although it can feel very uncomfortable at times, when you learn how to work with this phase of your journey, you’ll discover just how crucial the void is in preparing you for your future.
If this sounds like you then this video is going to help you a great deal
What are your thoughts on being vulnerable? Do you see it as a weakness? Are you scared of being vulnerable in front of other people?
There is nothing more frightening than the moment we expose our ideas and views to the world.
Yet if we refuse to be vulnerable and succumb to the fear of criticism, we will remain powerless in a world that now requires us to share our voice and stand for what we believe.
As we continue this series in understanding the layers of our personal mastery, the next profound teacher featured is Brené Brown who says:
“If you’re not failing then you’re really not showing up.”
Personal Mastery requires a multidimensional approach from the physical, emotional, spiritual, energetic and mindset levels.
And with that awareness, today we are looking at the emotional nature in how we relate to others and share our truth.
So in todays video you’re going to learn:
My mission is to make you aware that extraordinary performance is really just a very ordinary set of lessons you can use to live your fullest life. I know this because I worked as an Olympic coach for 16 years. Each and every one of us is uniquely extraordinary already.
The hardest part is remaining consistent and being comfortable with the discomfort of learning and changing. Being ordinary ruthlessly well is the extraordinary part.
Since moving away from Olympic sport, the areas of work I get asked to be part of fascinate me. I was recently interviewed by Sean and Matt at The Two Sales Guys, and I really enjoyed the great conversations we had.
